There is now one more carpenter in Heaven – Wayne DeCort passed away on Friday, September 19, 2008 at the age of 66. He was born on December 3, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Noel and Virginia (Kamper) DeCort. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Jan; son, Dan (Mishay) DeCort; daughter, Julie (Aaron) Yuhas; grandchildren, Kali and Leiya DeCort, and Ella Yuhas; father, Noel DeCort; siblings, Janet (Mike) Shaink, Debbie (Mel) Scott, Diane (David) Myers, Dave (Lori) DeCort, and Mike Walters; father-in-law, Robert Acker; sister-in-law, Ann (Bill) Acker; several nieces nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia DeCort; stepmother, Lois DeCort; Wayne spent his entire life loving and caring for his family and giving of himself to others. Whether it was serving his country, teaching, or helping out a fellow neighbor, his enormous heart continuously drove his actions. When not teaching or serving his fellow man he filled his time working in his basement, fostering his creative energy into his woodworking or other marvelous pieces of art. His wife and children will forever hold in their hearts the countless memories he gave their family, particularly their ski trips out west and their trips up north to Young State Park and Interlocken. Wayne loved being with his kids. Whether rollerblading, skiing, snowboarding, or playing with his grandchildren, he kept up with them till the very end. Wayne certainly left his mark in this world, and he did so being incredibly humble. Even in death he gave of himself. Wayne was able to donate three organs so that three others may carry on, hopefully with his remarkable energy for life.
